South Africa’s government is taking steps to support its elderly citizens who are struggling financially.
To address this issue, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced an increase in the SASSA old-age grant for 2024-2025, with social assistance rising by almost 5%.
This boost ensures elderly South Africans have enough resources to cover their daily needs.
To qualify, applicants must be South African citizens, permanent residents, or refugees, with assets not exceeding R2,455,200 for married individuals and R2,227,600 for single individuals. They also cannot receive any other social grant.
