Confusion has been brewing around the “Sassa R2090 Grant” in South Africa, but here’s what we know.
The term “R2090 grant” isn’t the name of a specific Sassa grant – instead, it refers to the monetary value of certain grants.
Sassa offers various permanent grants to support vulnerable individuals, including:
- Older Persons Pension Grant
- Disability Grant
- War Veterans Grant
- Care Dependency Grant
- Foster Child Grant
- Child Support Grant
- Grant-in-Aid
Before the recent increases, the Older Persons Grant, War Veterans Grant, and Disability Grant had a value of R2090.
Check SASSA Grant StatusHowever, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced increases to these grants, which took effect on 1 April and will again on 1 October.
For instance, the Older Persons Grant increased by R90 in April and will increase by another R10 in October.
Similarly, the Disability Grant and War Veterans Grant also saw increases of R90 in April and will see another rise in R10 in October.
So, while the “R2090 grant” might not be a specific grant name, it’s clear that Sassa is committed to supporting those in need through various grants and increases.
